পাতা ঝরছে, যেন উর্ধ্ব থেকে নিম্নে ঝরে পড়ছে ক্রমাগত
যেন মহাশূন্যের আকাশে কোন উদ্যান মৃত্যুমুখী।
প্রতিটি পাতা ঝরছে, যেন প্রকৃতি প্রত্যাখাত, প্রতিশ্রুতিহীন।
এবং আজরাতে ওজনদার পৃথিবী কক্ষচ্যুত
তারাহীন নিঃসঙ্গতায় অধঃপতনশীল।
আমরাও স্খলনশীল। আমাদের এই হাত পতিত
সবাইকে দ্যাখো, অন্যরাও একইভাবে পতনোম্মুখ।
এবং এমন একজন এখনও বিদ্যমান, যার হাত অনন্তকালের
অকাতরে এইসব পতনের গতিরোধ করে চলেছে।
Autumn

The leaves are falling, falling as if from far up,
as if orchards were dying high in space.
Each leaf falls as if it were motioning “no.”
And tonight the heavy earth is falling
away from all other stars in the loneliness.
We’re all falling. This hand here is falling.
And look at the other one. It’s in them all.
And yet there is Someone, whose hands
infinitely calm, holding up all this falling.

Rainer Maria Rilke (4 December 1875–29 December 1926)German, Bohemian-Austrian poet and novelist, “widely recognized as one of the most lyrically intense German-language poets” wrote both verse and highly lyrical prose. Several critics have described Rilke’s work as inherently “mystical”.
